In the Land of Nod, Hazel Ruby. 2021

Hazel Ruby is one of the most informed and insightful people it has ever been my pleasure to work with. Her book is a culmination of an extraordinary life that has been touched by tragedy and inspiration.

Growing up in the UK, she realised that she saw things differently to other girls at an early age Back then she would do everything she could to suppress that difference, while striving to be seen as what she thought was normal. It wasn’t until many years later that she realised this feeling of being different was the gift that would open the way to a rewarding and satisfying career as a multi-dimensional coach and mentor.

What fascinates me about Hazel, and what she does, is her total commitment to her clients’ well-being and overall mental and physical health.

For someone who has experienced so much sadness, and confronted so many challenges in her interesting life, her attitude is unbelievably upbeat. I don’t think I have ever met anyone else who has such a genuine and infectious love of life and desire to do good for her fellow men and women.

That the book we worked on together was titled, “In The Land of Nod”  is a serendipitous ‘nod’ (forgive the pun) to a nickname, which she initially hated as a put down as a child but grew to accept and love later in life, is one of those superb examples that make you believe in the fact that there is no such thing as a co-incidence, because everything in this life of ours is meant to happen for a reason.

I was meant to help Hazel write this book. I just didn’t know it at the time!
